I met George Marchacos at the 2003 IAAPA Show in Orlando, FL.  George designed and developed a mining, panning, and digging experience at my business in the Spring of 2004 for the upcoming tourist season.  It turned out to be extremely successful from both a revenue generating and entertainment perspective.  George has also been a complete resource for rocks, fossils and all types of rockhound merchandise.

Almost two years ago, we rounded the corner at the Gift Show and found George Marchacos and his fabulous mining sluice. We were immediately intrigued and  - while there was no direct connection to an arts & crafts studio - we instinctively knew we had to have one.  Running water, dirt, cool rock treasures....What child could resist?

Our gut instinct proved correct and it was an overnight success.  Not only did it set us apart from other arts & crafts studios, it added another attraction for boys - a harder target to attract in our industry.  While we have yet to really tap the scout troops and classrooms, they are beginning to find us on their own.  The mining sluice is offered to walk-ins but it's the birthday party add-on that has been key in increasing revenue on existing sales.

Currently averaging about 350 bags of mine rough a month, the kids keep on coming back for more.  Collecting and trading is quickly becoming a hobby we hope to proliferate.

Working with George and Cold River Mining has been a positive and rewarding experience.  They are extremely service-oriented and the price/value of the mine rough/rocks is beyond comparison.  Our long term plans include multiple locations and none of them will be complete without a mining sluice.  We hope to maintain our relationship with Cold River Mining for a long time to come.  Thanks Cold River Mining!

We are very pleased to report that after our first summer with our "Jellystone Gems Mining Company" attraction in operation here at our campground, the response from our campers was very favorable. We feel the key to our success would be the location of the sluice by the Ranger Station and the main roadway entering the park. We also 
held a daily demonstration free of charge that demonstrated how to sluice successfully. The parents enjoyed it as much as the kids!

Just wanted to drop you a note letting you know how much our guests are enjoying the popular party package which also includes inflatables and rock climbing. We call this our Adventurer Experience and I receive many positive comments from both the kids and the parents.  I think the fact that it is a activity where the parents and children can participate together makes it even better experience.   

I see this as an investment that will provide a fairly quick ROI and most importantly provides a long term revenue stream and significantly differentiates us from our competition. When the folks at Cold River Mining told me that installing one of their sluices would be like putting a gold mine in my zoo, of course I had doubts.  How could this little river of water and a few bags of rocks make such a difference?  Well... consider this an open invitation to visit ZOOMARS and see for yourself the crowds of kids gathered around, sifting anxiously to find their treasures.  Getting the right person to run it is key as our guy has become known as THE MINERAL MAN and developed his own character and show to create a happening environment.  I would highly recommend Cold River to anyone looking to add fun, excitement and profits to their attraction.  The rocks they sell are big and beautiful and no visitor has ever been disappointed with what they've walked away with.  In fact, they're walking back in for more!
